Thalassemia Welfare Society was founded by the doctors, patients and parents of Thalassemic children on 2nd of Oct. 2010 at Shahdol with the following main aims and objectives:
- To create greater awareness amongst public.
- To educate the parents, wards and patients of Thalassemia.
- To provide medical assistance.
- To establish Thalassemia detection centers and organize camps.
- To help the Blood Banks by organizing/helping Blood Donation Camps.
- To pursue the Govt. authorities for improving facilities.
- To provide friendliness and brotherhood amongst the members.
We want to Shahdol Government has taken following steps in consultation with Thalassemia Welfare Society Shahdol
- Hepatitis C screening in Blood Banks
- Free chelating agents including Desferal & Kelfer in M.P Government Hospitals
- Mandatory Thalassemia Screening of pregnant women in M.P Govt. Hospitals
- Improvement of Thalassemia Day Care Centers.
- Awareness programmes
- Advertisements in Newspapers
- Printing of posters and leaflets
- Putting of Hoardings at prominent places
- Thalassemia tableau in World Health Day Parade
- Thalassemia Stall in Bal Health Mela organized by M.P Govt.
- Protocol for Thalassemia Management in association with Thalassemia Welfare Society published by Delhi Govt.
- Procurement of 3 Hb HPLC machines by M.P Govt. for DDU, LN & GTB hospitals.
This is not the end, we have just walked a few steps, and we have to go a long way to achieve our dream of normal life for existing Thalassemics and no new Thalassemia Majors in future.
